Pregnancy Induced What?

Neat. I hate being sick. And I've been so lucky up to this point. No horrible morning sickness, no evening sickness and even incredibly spicy foods don't give me indigestion. No, I've been struck by something I consider much worse: pregnancy-induced compromised immune system. In effect, while all pregnant women have a slightly compromised immune system (wouldn't want our immune systems to attack baby) mine seems to be a little more problematic than that. In fact, I got an infected lymph node behind my ear and a viral infection in my gums all at the same time. No problem says my doctor, we will put you on some antibiotics and some antivirals. You should be as good as new. Then I manage to come down with a cold that feels like it is turning into a sinus infection. Not cool. I can't go back on antibiotics right away. Now I have another spot in my mouth that hurts behind my teeth. I just want to drink Anbesol. I hope that this doesn't last for the next 6 months. I suppose it could be worse...but I hate the fact that there isn't ANYTHING I can do about it. Sigh...

Second Ultrasound

BG is finally starting to look like a baby. Actually, what I find the most amazing is that BG actually is a baby. A completely formed, all the parts are already there, baby. Just one of those little nuggets that makes you appreciate God and his awe-inspiring creations. Every organ, finger, toe and ear is neatly condensed into a perfectly miniature two and a half inch baby. WOW.

Now, for a few comments about ultrasounds. I love looking at the pictures, I'm not a huge fan of the appointments. I hate having to drink all those fluids and then sit (or in my case, pace) the waiting room hoping that they will call your name before you end up peeing yourself. And as much as I love my husband, Rod wasn't much help. He just kept laughing at me. Looking back, I suppose it was amusing. But at the time, I was not up for humor. I thought that my bladder might just explode. And I was the first appointment of the day. How could she possibly be running 15 minutes behind before the day even starts? I swear I think it is a test. I am proud to have passed this round. Next time I will NOT schedule myself for the first appointment of the day. I think the morning is harder than other times of the day because I was standing in the bathroom brushing my teeth and taking a shower (all required running water, of course). Not a mistake I will make again.
